Bagong Pasukan 2025: Sagipin Natin ang Talino ng Bayan Reading. Writing. Critical Thinking.
🚨 Philippine education is in crisis. Only 24% of students can understand what they read. Writing and critical thinking skills are collapsing — and the consequences go beyond the classroom. But here’s the truth: Improving literacy and thinking starts at home and at work. 📌 This blog explores how we can all help — as parents, professionals, and leaders — by creating spaces for deeper thinking, intentional learning, and active reflection. If you care about our country's future, this is worth your time.

🚨 The Reality We Don’t Want to Face (But Must)
📉 Only 24% of students have basic reading ability.
📉 Math?
SubjectPhilippine ScoreGlobal AverageReading347487Math355472Science373485
Lahat tayo, apektado.
Bakit Lahat Tayo May Stake Dito?
1. 📖 Ibalik ang Reading Time
15–20 minutes lang bawat gabi. Huwag lang basta pahinahon — gawin itong bonding.
Tip: Sabayan silang magbasa. Hindi ka nag-uutos — kasama ka.
2. 🧠 Magtanong, Hindi Mag-lecture
3. 📝 Introduce Mini-Writing
100-word journal entries. One sentence reflection. Kahit captions sa IG stories—
it counts as writing if it’s done with thought.
4. 👨👩👦 Gawa ng Family Book Club
Kahit short stories o comics. Magpili ng isang babasahin bawat linggo, tapos talakayin habang nag-meryenda.
5. 📱 Tech, Not Trash
May libreng eBooks, audiobooks, learning apps.
Use tech not just for TikTok — but for transforming minds.
Sa Workplace: Growing Your Thinking Muscle
Yes, kahit empleyado ka, manager, o freelancer — you can level up your brainpower and influence your team too:
Microlearning Moments
Magtakda ng 10 minutes daily for intentional reading: news analysis, industry reports, thought-provoking essays.
Book-of-the-Month Culture
Masaya ‘to! Everyone reads a short book or listens to a podcast, then shares insights.
Pampabuhay ng kultura ng learning sa opisina.
Journaling Your Projects
After every task or campaign: write down what worked, what failed, and what you’d do differently next time.
That’s critical thinking in motion.
Ask Better Questions in Meetings
“What’s the bias in this data?”
“Are we solving the right problem?”
“Paano tayo magiging mas intentional dito?”
Lumalalim ang conversations. Lumalawak ang mindset.
🌏 Inspiration from Around the World
🇸🇬 Singapore – Discipline + Literacy
“I do not yet know of a man who became a leader as a result of having undergone a leadership course.” — Lee Kuan Yew
Education, not charisma, is what built Singapore.
They prioritized early literacy, invested in teacher training, and built systems that reward merit and depth.
🇫🇮 Finland – Trust the Mind
No standardized testing till high school.
Teachers are treated like doctors: respected, trained, and given freedom.
Students are taught to think, not just memorize.
🇰🇷 South Korea – Study as Cultural Norm
Reading and learning is ingrained in their culture. Even after-school hours, tuloy ang learning — in structured but passionate ways.
🧘 Pause and Reflect…
✅ Call to Action: Simulan Mo Ngayon
Ano ang ating maaaring gawin kahit may work tayo?
Magbasa ng 1 article per day - To train the brain to focus. Ikaw naman ang magbahagi ng nabasa sa anak/asawa mo to multiply insights and have a smart and open discourse.
Mag-reflect weekly sa journal - To track your growth and what insights you have learned.
📍 Start with yourself.
📍 Start at home.
📍 Start with small, real actions.
“Ang tunay na pagbabago ay hindi hinihintay. Ito ay binabasa, sinusulat, at iniisip — araw-araw.”
